Aliens may exist but contact would hurt humans: Hawking. Your thoughts?

I would actually think such a smart race would want to interact with us and find out more about us. Do you really think they would NEED our resources? Think about it...we are finding ways to use the sun, and wind as energy...IF they exist, they have probably figured out how to do something similar. They wouldn't need our resources and the only reason they would waste their time coming here would probably be out of pure curiousity.
