When an earthworm eats soil, how does it ingest, digest, and eliminate the soil?

As a worm sucks in soil it is ground by the gizzard then ped on through the body. Nutrient molecules from organic debris are digested and absorbed while it moves through the gut and intestine. The mineral matter is expelled from the as a deposit of rich material called a casting.
