Great Gatsby help please!!?

He told Nick that he really wanted to go but that he couldn't. He said that he did not want to get involved. Why didn't he go to the funeral? Who knows, because he's selfish, because he doesn't care, because of all the fake reasons he told Nick on the phone basically, that he didn't want to get involved. He didn't come for the same reasons no one else came to the funeral.
