Should the Beatles even be compared to...?

Mozart, Beethoven, Ravel, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, the clic guys. People look up to the Beatles, and I think that's okay, but to claim that they are nearly as intelligent or hard working as any clical composers it ridiculous, they were on drugs! As I'm sure many musicians were, something tells me Bach wasn't an acid addict. But, it gets me all bent out of shape that people are so sheeplike, and it's people who know nothing about clical music who make these claims. It's awful. I'm sure they had an effect on society, but were they really that great? John Lennon, don't even get me started. And don't tell me about "apples and oranges". If you like it okay, but if you think it is nearly as complex and as mind challenging as clical, please point that out...
